Every Step Counts – Celebrating the Quiet Victories in Book Publishing
Writing and publishing a children's book is a long journey, full of tiny steps, waiting, and little moments of magic. And right now, I'm learning to truly celebrate each one of them.
It's so easy to look ahead—to dream about big sales numbers, long lines at signings, or seeing the book everywhere. But the truth is, the real joy lives in the small wins. Every single step forward is a victory worth cheering for.
Today I'm smiling so big because my book When Leo Lost His Fire is now available at Ljusdals bibliotek! Yes – my little dragon story about courage, feelings, and finding your inner light is sitting on the shelves of a real library. Children (and grown-ups) can borrow it, read it together, talk about emotions, and maybe even feel a little braver because of Leo's journey.
For me, this is huge. It's not about charts or bestseller lists right now—it's about one more child opening the book, one more family sharing the story, one more heart feeling seen.
So here's my gentle reminder to myself (and to anyone else on a creative path): Don't wait for the "big break" to feel proud. Celebrate the first review. Celebrate the first sale. Celebrate when someone messages you saying the book touched them. And celebrate when your book finds a home in a library—even a small one in a beautiful place like Ljusdal.
Every step is progress. Every step is proof that your story matters.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this little book so far—readers, reviewers, librarians, friends, and family. Your encouragement keeps the fire burning.
Here's to many more small, wonderful victories ahead. 🐉✨
With gratitude and joy, Tina
