My New Journey as an Artist – The Book Was the Easy Part
Hello dear readers!
A few months ago, I thought the biggest step was behind me: my children's book The Magical Colors Inside Me was finally written, illustrated, and published. I believed the hardest work was done – the creation, the painting, the bringing of the story to life. But now I realize: that was actually the easy part.
Writing and illustrating the book was a journey full of joy, flow, and magical moments in the studio. The words came naturally, the colors danced on the page, and every finished spread felt like a small victory. But once the book was ready and out in the world, the real challenge began: getting it seen.
Promoting a self-published children's book is like trying to shout over an ocean of noise. Algorithms, social media, Etsy, Amazon, Goodreads, blogs, podcasts… it's a whole new world, overwhelming and incredibly educational. Some days it feels like I'm calling out in an empty room; other days, a sweet message arrives from someone who read the book with their child – and suddenly it's all worth it.
But slowly, things are starting to move. I've connected with wonderful authors, exchanged books, written reviews together with my students, and now I've even booked a spot on a podcast next week! The thought of sitting down to talk about the book, creativity, children's voices, and power animals feels both exciting and a little nerve-wracking.
I don't know exactly where this path is leading, but for the first time in a long while, I feel like I'm actually going somewhere – not just standing still and waiting. It's a journey where I'm learning to be both artist and entrepreneur, to dare to be seen, and to trust that what I create has a place in the world.
Thank you for following along. It means more than you know.
What's next? We'll find out together. But I promise to share everything here on the blog.
